Restaurant

The kitchen, open to the dining area, is run by chef Barry Moran who left this area to work in restaurants in Australia and Sweden before returning to Scotland where he won a scholarship with the Scottish Chefs Association. He then went to the USA where after studying under French Master Pastry Chef, Gilles Renusson, he was awarded an A grade in Advanced Pastry Arts. Returning to Scotland Barry became Pastry Chef in Ferrier Richardson’s “Eurasia” in Glasgow. He joined Andrew Fairlie at One Devonshire Gardens in 1999 and that year the restaurant was awarded it’s first Michelin Star. Andrew Fairlie invited Barry to join him in setting up the famous Michelin starred “Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles” restaurant where he worked until 2005.

Barry chose to return home to this area to live and has been with Lochleven Seafood Café since it opened in May 2006 and is now one of the company’s directors.

Barry believes in letting the natural product take centre stage and with the freshest live shellfish available from the adjoining dispatch centre his dishes are simple but delicious.
The extensive shellfish menu is complemented by an alternative menu featuring fish, meat and vegetarian options. This changes monthly.
We have local beers and an extensive wine list which will complement any meal.
The aim is to provide the best Scottish shellfish, expertly cooked, in a relaxed and comfortable environment, at affordable prices.

Sitting on the terrace on a warm summers day, looking at the Pap of Glencoe and Loch Leven, with a plate of langoustines or mussels and a glass of Albarino is an experience many have already enthused over.
